Town of Awendaw Municipal Park Foundation Board

The Town of Awendaw Municipal Park was purchased from Charleston County through Greenbelt funds. The 300-acre park now consists of a 50-acre lake and is in connection to the East Coast Greenway Trail. The Town of Awendaw Municipal Park is also now the new home for the Town's annual Awendaw Blue Crab Festival. In 2022, the Town hired consultants to help create and establish a vision for the park and its amenities and usage. The Town hosted several workshops, Public Hearings, and surveys for citizens' input.  In 2023, the Town Council voted to establish the park as a 501-C3 and hired Tom O'Rourke as the consultant for the park and establishment of the 501-C3. The Town Council voted to establish the name of the 501-C3 as the Awendaw Municipal Park Foundation. The Board will consist of 5 to 11 members with rotating terms.  All appointed board members will be approved by the Town Council.  Below are documents and a history of decisions made by the Town Council throughout this process.
