Councilman Robert Causey


Robert A. Causey, Sr. has been a resident of Awendaw, S.C. for the past
18 years. He lives at Rialde Farms with his wife of 54 years Mary Magwood Causey. They have three children Robert A. Causey, Jr. who resides in Atlanta, Deborah Yates who is building at Rialde Farms and Richard A. Causey (deceased).

Robert was educated at Lake City High School and graduated from Moultrie High School in Mt. Pleasant. He served for 6 years in the South Carolina National Guard. He served as both a Deacon and Elder at LifePark Church in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.  Robert was a builder/developer for most of his career and was a past Secretary of the Charleston Home Builder’s Association. He also had a Real Estate Broker’s license. 

As part of his giving back to the community, he participated in helping to raise money for the construction of the last two boy’s homes at Windwood Farms. He also participated in numerous fundraising projects for the Charleston Home Builders Association.

His hobbies included flying, golfing, biking and walking. Of recent, biking has been the hobby that has been the most satisfying. For about the past 20 years he has been actively involved in South Carolina Baptist Disaster Relief serving for about six of those years as the State Feeding Director. He has assisted with disasters in Alabama, Florida, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, as well as South Carolina.

Before being elected to Awendaw Town Council, he served on the Awendaw Planning Commission for approximately six years.
