Housing Department

​The Town of Awendaw uses in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to fund the Housing Rehabilitation Grant Program. The Town of Awendaw receives funding through Charleston County who receives funding through HUD. 
This program provides financial assistance to low - moderate homeowners from the Town of Awendaw by helping homeowners make the necessary repairs to maintain safety and the energy conservation of their home. 

Eligibility: 
  • Elderly persons with a physical limitation and/or disability.
  • Are below the 80% median income and no repairs have been done for years.

​Housing Rehabilition Services includes but are not limited to: 
  • Water Damaged Floors and Ceilings
  • New or Leaking Roofs
  • Plumbing Services 
  • Septic System Repairs and New Install 
  • Termite Damage
  • Handicap Accessible Bathrooms and Ramps
  • Electrical Upgrades
