There is currently snowfall in our area. It is expected to continue from tonight through Sunday morning. We could see 4"-7" of snow. We strongly encourage all residents to avoid travel due to hazardous conditions. These conditions will persist throughout the weekend due to the threat of black ice. To reduce the risk of pipes freezing or bursting, we ask that you set your faucets to a small drip, especially overnight.

A message from the office of the Mayor: Dear Citizens of Awendaw, A great deal of work is required to prepare for extreme weather events like the one we are currently experiencing. Please know that your Town Administrator has been diligently coordinating and preparing our Town for this weather event. County, State, and other local municipalities have been included in multiple scheduled conversations and coordination efforts. These steps have been taken to ensure that resources and access to Emergency Response professionals remain available and ready. As your Mayor and voice of your Town Council in such cases, we have been keeping a close watch on these efforts in real time. I can assure you that all possible actions have been taken and all due diligence to ensure public safety has been undertaken. Please, do not drive. If you have an emergency, call 911. The great professionals who are responsible for our Town are fully staffed and standing ready. Especially the hard-working men and women of the Awendaw McClellanville Fire Department under the leadership of Chief Shaun Gadsden. They are fully staffed and are prepared to assist in any way they can. We thank them for the service they give the town. Respectfully, Mayor Chris Crolley
