Detectives with the Charleston County Sheriffs Office will host a free trailer stamping event on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the agency's Law Enforcement Center in North Charleston.
How does it work? CCSO, along with fellow area and state law enforcement agencies, provide an owner-applied number stamped onto participants' trailers. This, along with the trailers' VIN and serial numbers, is then entered into the agency's records system. This has helped identify stolen trailers in the past and can provide an extra layer of security. Flyer below with more information.

The Town Council of Awendaw, South Carolina, will hold a public hearing on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Town Hall located at 6971 Doar Road, Awendaw, SC 29429, on the following ordinance per South Carolina Code of Laws Section 6-29-530:
A copy of the draft ordinance is available for viewing at Town Hall during regular business hours (Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) and by clicking the ordinance titles above. Town of Awendaw Officials are monitoring Tropical Storm Chantal as it continues to approach the S.C. coastline. A Tropical Storm Watch and High Surf Advisory are currently in effect.
According to the latest information from the National Weather Service, the storm is currently located off the southeast U.S. coast and is expected to make landfall in the northern part of Charleston County Sunday morning, producing heavy rain, strong winds, and rip currents. The greatest impacts are expected between 10 p.m. tonight and 8 a.m. tomorrow. With the enhanced risk of rip currents and dangerous conditions throughout the weekend, the public is encouraged to remain off the water. Rain totals are expected to near 4 inches, with up to 6 inches possible in some areas. Heavy rainfall could produce periods of flash flooding, particularly coinciding with today’s 5 p.m. high tide. Wind gusts could reach 45 mph along the coast, and potentially stronger across high span brides. As a reminder, Charleston County does not have the authority to close bridges. Click here to review the county’s bridge procedures during high winds. Due to the likelihood of strong winds, isolated power outages and downed tree limbs are possible. Residents are encouraged to follow Charleston County Government on social media, download the 2024 Hurricane Guide, and sign up for the Citizen’s Alert System. For the most accurate and up-to-date weather forecasts, residents should stay tuned to the National Hurricane Center and National Weather Service Charleston websites, as well as local media and SCEMD’s SC Emergency Manager app. |
