Since the last update on April 15, 2026, Charleston County continues to experience extreme drought conditions. A map of these conditions is available here: Charleston County, SC | U.S. Drought Monitor.
This severe condition is an unprecedented experience for the Lowcountry and has created extremely high demand on the water system, especially during our peak hours: 4:30 am- 10:30 am and 4:30 - 7:30 pm. We have asked everyone with an irrigation system to reduce their water flow to reduce the duration and frequency of use. Please irrigate your yard only once a week, for a maximum of 1 hour. This reduction is critical to reducing the high demand on the system. The Town understands that high usage has reduced the amount of contact time with the Chlorine, reducing the hydrogen sulfide smell. Staff have been logging every water complaint received from the Town's water operator. If you would like to make a complaint, please call Town Hall or email the Town Administrator: [email protected]. Due to the high volume of complaints, staff do not have the capacity to respond to each inquiry individually. However, every complaint has been addressed to work towards a solution with the operator during this time. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. The Town is dedicated to the continual improvement of our system and the services we provide.
