Awendaw, South Carolina — May 14, 2026 — The Town of Awendaw proudly announces the grand opening of its newest public park, Town of Awendaw Municipal Park, a vibrant green space designed to bring the community together while promoting outdoor activity, relaxation, and environmental stewardship.
Located at 7804 Doar Road, the park is 292 acres and features a wide range of amenities for visitors of all ages, including walking and biking trails, open fields, and a 60-acre lake. The park also incorporates sustainable design elements, such as native plantings, and is planning ecofriendly infrastructure. This park represents a major investment in the well-being of our community. It’s a place where families can gather, children can play, and residents can connect with nature right in their neighborhood. The project was developed with input from the community and the Town of Awendaw Municipal Park Foundation Board, ensuring the space reflects the needs and values of the people it serves. The park is a passive park and was provided by Charleston County Greenbelt funds. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on April 18th, featuring remarks from local officials. The Town of Awendaw invites all residents and visitors to come experience The Town of Awendaw Municipal Park and enjoy everything it has to offer.
