Chris Crolley has lived and worked in Awendaw for over 30 years. As the owner of Coastal Expeditions—operator of the Bulls Island Ferry and a longtime partner in the stewardship of Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge—and founder of the Coastal Expeditions Foundation, he has spent his career connecting people to the waterways, forests, and wildlife that make this town remarkable.
A dedicated advocate for conservation and community, Chris has worked closely with colleagues in the Francis Marion National Forest, Cape Romain, and across the Lowcountry to protect habitat, expand environmental education, and champion public access to natural spaces. His decades of hands-on experience exploring and interpreting the region shape his collaborative approach to leadership.
Chris was elected Mayor of Awendaw in 2025. He is committed to preserving the town’s rural character, supporting the people who live here, and ensuring that the natural landscapes between the forest and the refuge continue to thrive for generations to come.
