The Town of Awendaw Municipal  Park

                                     Awendaw Lake and Park

Upcoming Town of Awendaw Park and Lake

In 2015 Awendaw Town Council took a bold first step towards providing its citizens a large passive park by purchasing a 300-acre tract of land on Doar Road with Charleston County's Greenbelt funds. Since then the Town has been constructing a 50-acre, free-form lake, 15-foot deep lake which will be the focal point of the park. The park will be built in phases and ultimately will be a place where people can canoe, fish, attend live concerts and community events, enjoy summertime outdoor family movie nights, community events and more. In 2018 the Town began hosting its annual Blue Crab Festival on the property with over 1,500 folks in attendance. On the northern side of the park there is access to our 2.3 mile Phase One of the Awendaw East Coast Greenway Trail--the Wappetaw Trail.  It will be several years before the park is completed in its entirety but we are very excited about the conceptual plan and the recreation opportunities it will provide the Awendaw community.
