  • Ordinance 2026-23: An Ordinance to repeal an Existing Planned Development, Sea Sands Properties, LLC, and amend the Town of Awendaw’s Official Zoning Map to change the Zoning Classification of parcel identified by TMS700-00-00-088, located on The South Side of Highway 17 Across from Steed Creek Road, from Planned Development (PD) to Residential (R).  
  • Ordinance 2026-24: An Ordinance Amending Chapter 10: General Provisions, Section 10.03, Procedures for Enactment, of the Town of Awendaw to streamline the second-reading amendment procedures for ordinances.

Residents, businesses, and contractors can find the most current versions of Town forms by visiting the Forms & Applications section of the Town website. As updates are completed, new and revised forms will be uploaded to ensure you have access to the latest versions.

  • Navigate to the Forms & Applications page.
  • Select and download the form you need.

If you are unable to locate a form or have questions about which application is appropriate for your project or request, please contact Town Hall. Our staff will be happy to assist you.

A map of these conditions is available here: Charleston County, SC | U.S. Drought Monitor.

This severe condition is an unprecedented experience for the Lowcountry and has created extremely high demand on the water system, especially during our peak hours: 4:30 am- 10:30 am and 4:30 - 7:30 pm. We have asked everyone with an irrigation system to reduce their water flow to reduce the duration and frequency of use. Please irrigate your yard only once a week, for a maximum of 1 hour. This reduction is critical to reducing the high demand on the system. 

The Town understands that high usage has reduced the amount of contact time with the Chlorine, reducing the hydrogen sulfide smell. Staff have been logging every water complaint received from the Town's water operator. If you would like to make a complaint, please call Town Hall or email the Town Administrator: townadministrator@townofawendawsc.org. Due to the high volume of complaints, staff do not have the capacity to respond to each inquiry individually. However, every complaint has been addressed to work towards a solution with the operator during this time. 

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. The Town is dedicated to the continual improvement of our system and the services we provide.

Located at 7804 Doar Road, the park is 292 acres and features a wide range of amenities for visitors of all ages, including walking and biking trails, open fields, and a 60-acre lake. The park also incorporates sustainable design elements, such as native plantings, and is planning ecofriendly infrastructure.

This park represents a major investment in the well-being of our community. It’s a place where families can gather, children can play, and residents can connect with nature right in their neighborhood.

The project was developed with input from the community and the Town of Awendaw Municipal Park Foundation Board, ensuring the space reflects the needs and values of the people it serves. The park is a passive park and was provided by Charleston County Greenbelt funds.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on April 18th, featuring remarks from local officials.

  • Ordinance 2025-45: An ordinance for a text amendment to an existing Planned Development, Awendaw Storage, identified by TMS 661-00-00-029. Amendment to include clarifications to dimensional standards, buffer requirements, and development review procedures. 
  • Ordinance 2026-14: An ordinance to repeal and replace Chapter 34: Finance and Revenue, for the Town of Awendaw, South Carolina
  • Ordinance 2026-15: An ordinance to amend Chapter 30, General Provisions, Subsection 30.090, to separate the financial responsibilities from the Clerk position and to create a new position under Subsection 30.093, Treasurer, to define the Treasurer’s duties.
  • Ordinance 2026-16: An ordinance of the Town of Awendaw, South Carolina, to amend Title III: Administration, Chapter 32: Boards and Commissions, Subsection 32.01 Planning Commission to change the monthly meeting from the third to the second Monday of the month.
  • Ordinance 2026-17: An ordinance to amend Chapter 153, Zoning Code, Subsection 153.027, R - Residential, to increase the minimum lot size in the Residential Zoning District
  • Ordinance 2026-18: An ordinance to amend Chapter 153, Zoning Code, Subsection 153.026 AG - Agricultural General to increase minimum lot size in the Agricultural General Zoning District
  • Ordinance 2026-20: An ordinance to adopt the 2026-2027 Fiscal Year General Fund Budget for the Town of Awendaw, SC, starting July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027.
  • Ordinance 2026-21: An ordinance to adopt the 2026-2027 Fiscal Year Water Fund Budget for the Town of Awendaw, SC, starting July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027.
  • Ordinance 2026-22: An ordinance of the Town of Awendaw, South Carolina, To Amend Title XV: Land Usage, Chapter 153: Zoning Code, Planned Development Division of the Code of the Town of Awendaw, South Carolina, by Amending Section 153.045 and repealing Section 153.046 through 153.050 thereto, and repealing any and all references to Planned Developments within Chapter 153: Zoning Code

The council will make the appointment to fill the vacancies during the June 4 Town Council Regular Meeting.

Smoke conditions may be visible in our community due to ongoing wildfires in parts of South Carolina and Georgia. Changing wind patterns can carry smoke many miles, even when there is no active fire nearby.

Please do not call 911 to report smoke alone. Call 911 immediately if you see visible flames, a fire, or an emergency situation. Keeping emergency lines open for active emergencies helps us respond quickly when every second counts.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and encourage residents to stay aware of local conditions.

If you have respiratory concerns, consider limiting outdoor activity when smoke is present. Stay safe, Awendaw and McClellanville.

A map of these conditions is available here: Charleston County, SC | U.S. Drought Monitor. During this period, we ask all water customers with irrigation systems to reduce the duration and frequency of use. Please irrigate your yard only once a week, for a maximum of 1 hour. This will increase the time water spends in contact with the town's treatment and should improve conditions starting next week. 

Staff have been logging every water complaint received from the town's water operator. If you would like to make a complaint, please call Town Hall or email the Town Administrator: townadministrator@townofawendawsc.org. While an immediate response may not be possible, all complaints are being addressed.
